Russia’s Wagner group seeks to extend presence in Sahel | Source: Daily Sabah

After participating in the war in Syria, Wagner fighters have resurfaced in politically volatile African countries like the Central African Republic as military “instructors” and Libya, where they are propping up the rival administration of putschist Gen. Khalifa Haftar. France and Germany warned West Africa’s Mali against a reported deal with the Russian mercenary group Wagner amid claims that the country is close to hiring 1,000 mercenaries of the secretive group.
