1) India has declared Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Hafiz Mohammad Saeed’s son Hafiz Talha Saeed as a “designated terrorist”. Hafiz Talha has been actively involved in recruitment, fund collection, planning and executing attacks by the LeT in India and Indian interests in Afghanistan. The designation comes a day after Hafiz Talha’s father and Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed was sentenced to 33 years in jail.

2) The government of India designated as terrorist Pakistani national Mohiuddin Aurangzeb Alamgir who was involved in the terror attack on a CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force of India) bus in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir in 2019, with forty CRPF personnel killed.

3) India and the US have asked Pakistan to take “immediate, sustained, and irreversible action” to ensure that no territory under its control is used for terrorist attacks and called for the perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai attack and Pathankot attack to be brought to justice. This came a day after Shehbaz Sharif replaced Imran Khan as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

4) By late March this year, Pakistan had seen 52 attacks by militants, compared to 35 in the same period last year. The attacks have also gotten deadlier. So far this year in Pakistan, 155 people have been killed in such attacks, compared to 68 last year. The worst have been claimed by a ruthless Islamic State affiliate. Meanwhile, IS attacks appear to have declined in Afghanistan.

5) Since seizing power from Afghanistan’s elected government eight months ago, the Taliban, despite their own atrocities and abuses, have touted their success in repressing the Islamic State group, but the militants have expanded into neighbouring Pakistan, stepping up attacks there. Analysts say IS has morphed into a borderless terrorist group, one of the deadliest in a region that has spawned many violent, radical organisations.

6) The Australian Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran announced her country’s readiness to cooperate with Iran in the fight against terrorism. He stated that Australia and Iran share a common concern about the Taliban.

7) At the moment, Islamic State attacks in Iraq are at the lowest level — not just in terms of the numbers, but also in terms of the complexity and effectiveness.”, according to Michael Knights, a fellow at the Washington Institute, ISIS has never been weaker in Iraq. The group has still been able to launch isolated fatal attacks, but in many villages like Lheiban, intimidation tactics are more common than mass carnage.

8) Several media reports confirmed that U.S. occupation forces transferred hundreds of ISIS terrorists from Iraq and from prisons controlled by the QSD (Syrian Democratic Forces, SDF, editor’s note) militia in Hassakeh to the vicinity of the occupation base in the al-Tanf area on the Syrian-Jordanian border to train and arm them to carry out attacks against the Syrian state.

9) President Joe Biden is rejecting Iran’s demand that the United States remove the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps from the U.S. list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations. Iran wants the terrorist designation removed for their military branch as a condition of the U.S. reentry into the nuclear deal.

10) Egypt launched a multidimensional scientific research project -dubbed ‘The Cost of Terrorism’- to conduct research on the economic and social impacts of terrorism in Egypt and Islamic countries
