Hamas Slams Arab States for Joining NATO Drill Alongside Israel | Source: FARS NEWS

The Hamas resistance movement denounced the participation of four Arab countries alongside Israel in a US-led NATO war game, describing it as a “betrayal” of the Palestinian cause against Israeli occupation. Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are among the participants.

UAE, Israel say to move forward with normalization process | Source: Yeni Safak

Emirati Foreign Minister and his Israeli counterpart expressed their intention to move forward with the normalization process between their countries. In September 2020, the UAE and Israel signed a US-sponsored deal to normalize their relations. Since then, the two countries have signed dozens of bilateral agreements in various fields, including investment, banking services, and tourism.

Iraq, Egypt, Jordan agree to boost security and economic ties at Baghdad summit | Source: France 24

Egypt, Jordan and Iraq agreed to bolster security and economic cooperation at a tripartite summit. The move came as Iraq seeks to move closer to Arab allies of the United States in the Middle East. Iraq is also seeking to establish itself as a mediator between Arab countries and Iran, after reportedly hosting talks in April between Tehran and Riyadh.

Biden orders airstrikes on Iran-backed militias in Iraq, Syria | Source: JNS

U.S. President Joe Biden in the Oval Office.

The United States carried out airstrikes targeting Iran-backed militias in Iraq and Syria, in response to drone attacks by the militias on U.S. personnel and facilities in Iraq, according to the Pentagon. Since April, Iran-backed militias have carried out “at least five” drone attacks against facilities used by U.S. and coalition personnel, said Reuters.

U.S. Intelligence Trains ISIS in Eastern Syria | Source: Syrian Observer

U.S. forces, through American intelligence agents, are training ISIS militants to use them in attacks against the Syrian and Russian armies, as well as communities and essential facilities. U.S. forces have moved a new group of ISIS militants from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) prisons in Hassakeh to their bases in the rural south of the governorate. This operation is not the first of its kind in that region; rather, it appears to reflect that the group’s militants are fighting within SDF’s ranks.
