China shows solidarity with Iran amid pressure from US over nuclear deal | Source: South China Morning Post

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has promised to share development experience with Iran to help it resist pressure from the United States.  Wang criticised that China and Iran were not included to a democracy summit organized by United States in December among the 110 invitees for the summit, which include Taiwan, India and Iraq.

China, Israel vow to strengthen relations for ‘win-win cooperation’ | Source: Anadolu Agency

China is willing to be Saudi Arabia’s long-term, reliable and stable good friend and partner, according to China’s foreign minister. Promising to “actively participate” in the Middle East nation’s major development projects, he said Beijing is ready to work with Riyadh “to further synergize the Belt and Road Initiative with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.”

As the US shifts the focus of its foreign affairs and national security policy from the Middle East to the Asia-Pacific region in an effort to target China, China has been proactive about moving in turn to fill the power vacuum. In particular, Beijing has been stepping up its diplomatic efforts with the Islamic world, including increased communication with Middle Eastern countries amid the chaos following the US withdrawal from Afghanistan.

UAE, Israel say to move forward with normalization process | Source: Yeni Safak

Emirati Foreign Minister and his Israeli counterpart expressed their intention to move forward with the normalization process between their countries. In September 2020, the UAE and Israel signed a US-sponsored deal to normalize their relations. Since then, the two countries have signed dozens of bilateral agreements in various fields, including investment, banking services, and tourism.

Egypt, Jordan and Iraq agreed to bolster security and economic cooperation at a tripartite summit. The move came as Iraq seeks to move closer to Arab allies of the United States in the Middle East. Iraq is also seeking to establish itself as a mediator between Arab countries and Iran, after reportedly hosting talks in April between Tehran and Riyadh.
