China, Russia sign road transport deal in boost for bilateral energy trade | Source: Global Times

China has signed an agreement with Russia on road transportation of dangerous goods, which will effectively boost bilateral trade in energy products, including liquefied petroleum gas and natural gas. At a time when many parts of the world face energy shortages, the agreement shows that China and Russian have strengthened bilateral cooperation on energy security, analysts said.

Israeli, Egyptian energy ministers discuss natural gas trade plans | Source: Jerusalem Post

The production platform of Leviathan natural gas field is seen in the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Haifa.

Israel and Egypt will discuss “future plans” for Israeli gas to be liquefied at Egyptian natural gas liquefaction plants, the ministers announced in a joint statement. They also discuss future plans to strengthen cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the East Mediterranean Gas Form (EMGF).

EU to open military training mission in Mozambique | Source: Anadolu Agency

The EU will open a training mission in Mozambique to train local forces in counter-terrorism operation. An armed group locally known as al-Shabaab has wreaked havoc in northern Mozambique since late 2017. The fighting has brought a $20 billion natural gas project led by oil giant Total to a grinding halt. The northern province is rich in natural gas.

  • France would take part in the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF), and the United States will join as an observer. Egypt, Israel, Greece, Cyprus, Italy and Jordan and the Palestinian Authority established the EMGF in September last year, as an intergovernmental organisation that seeks to promote natural gas exports from the eastern Mediterranean.
