Vietnam, Russia hold great potential for maritime security cooperation | Source: Vietnam Plus

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attends the United Nations Security Council (UNSC)’s high-level open debate on maritime security. 

Vietnam and Russia have substantial potential to further develop their cooperation in maritime security in the time ahead, a Russian expert has said when commenting on Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s proposals at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC)’s recent high-level open debate on maritime security. Vietnam’s approach coincides with that of Russia, that is concerted efforts are needed to make progress in this field, with the participation of regional architectures like ASEAN.

  • The US Commerce Department said it added Chinese National Overseas Oil Corporation (CNOOC) to a US economic blacklist. It said CNOOC has “repeatedly harassed and threatened offshore oil and gas exploration and extraction in the South China Sea, with the goal of driving up the political risk for interested foreign partners, including Vietnam.”
