China pledges to enhance cooperation with Zimbabwe | Source: People’s Daily Online

Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe reaffirmed China’s commitment to enhancing its strategic cooperation with Zimbabwe. China now remains a main foreign investor in Zimbabwe, with investments in Zimbabwe’s agriculture and the energy sector, as well as for the upgrading of its telecommunication networks. Meanwhile, the United States is funding and training local reporters to write anti-China stories and discredit Chinese investments.

China call on US to remove illegal sanctions on Zimbabwe | Source: Global Times

China stands in solidarity with Zimbabwe in a consistent call for the unconditional removal of Western sanctions. The illegitimate sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the US and some other Western countries have lasted for 20 years, which have gravely hobbled Zimbabwe’s capability to develop economy. China’s support to Zimbabwe on removing sanctions from the West is only part of its good relationship with Zimbabwe since the 1960s.

  • ZIMBABWE: Cities across Zimbabwe that had expected mass anti-corruption demonstrations were instead deserted on Friday as security forces deployed widely and police said that protesters would be “regarded as terrorists.”  Ahead of Friday’s planned protests, numerous opposition officials, activists and journalists and their family members were detained or arrested by authorities.
